Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) – Ayurvedic Treatment

What is IBS?

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common digestive disorder that affects the large intestine (colon). It is characterized by symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, or alternating bowel habits. IBS is a functional gastrointestinal disorder, meaning it affects how the digestive system works without causing structural damage.

In Ayurveda, IBS is often correlated with Grahani Roga, a disorder related to impaired digestive fire (Agni) and imbalance of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha Doshas. When digestion becomes weak, toxins (Ama) accumulate in the body and disturb the normal functioning of the intestines.

At Nilkanth Ayurveda and Panchakarma Center, IBS is treated through a holistic Ayurvedic approach that focuses on improving digestion, balancing doshas, detoxifying the body, and restoring healthy bowel function.
